These surely help other dental surgeons to hugely develop their skills in the field of implant dentistry. Learn to restore implants for your own patients

Issued: Thursday, 15 August 2013

General dental practitioners who want to provide implant treatment, but do not wish to place the implants themselves, should attend a course run jointly by dentist Matthew Holyoak and dental technician Steve Taylor.   The comprehensive one-day programme gives delegates the confidence to restore a wide range of implant cases for their own patients.  ‘Restoring Implants’ takes place in the dedicated facility at the Taylor Dental Technology Centre, Lancashire, on 29 November.  Further details can be found on the DENTSPLY Implants education website

The programme provides attendees with a greater understanding of dental implant restoration, so that they can complete the majority of cases that are referred for placement. The course covers all situations from single tooth restorations to overdentures and full-arch reconstructions. The content includes protocols which promote a successful relationship between the placement surgeon, the restoring dentist and the laboratory.

According to Dr Mike Kelly of Southview Dental Centre, Edenbridge, Kent, “The course demystified all the implant components and gave me a chance to practise using them. Knowing I will be involved in the case gives me more confidence when talking to patients about implants.”

Matthew Holyoak lectures on aesthetic dentistry for the Royal College of Surgeons Diploma in Restorative Dentistry.  He is Senior Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Central Lancashire.  With previous experience of a variety of implant systems, Steve Taylor has presented numerous courses to both technicians and clinicians covering a range of subjects including occlusion, ceramic and implants.
